The Moulage System version 3 was written by Leeland Artra with feedback and collaboration from: Lucy Akolzina, University of Washington; Dr. Eduardo Firpo, University of Washington; Dr. Bob Franza, University of Washington; Alan Goates, Isis Pharmaceuticals; Raymond Kong, University of Washington; John McNeil, Isis Pharmaceuticals; Dr. Yvan Rochon, University of Washington; and Dr. QingHong Zhou, University of Washington.
Moulage version 3 work was started under the Cellworks Project with support from an NIH/NCRR Resource Center Grant, an NSF Science and Technology Center Grant, and a contract from Isis Pharmaceuticals, Carlsbad, Ca. It was trasfered to the Cell Systems Initiative in July of 2000.
Version 2
Overview
Moulage version 2.0 created a stable version that was used for collaborations and further experimentation. Moulage 2.0 was the foundation for a number of prototypes (experiments at) applying Java technology to the biological laboratory. Although only partially completed and a lot of features were still being prototyped a version 2.5 was released.

The primary difference between 2.0 and 2.5 is 2.5 had a lot of bug fixes and a number of additional classes. So only 2.5 is available for download.

Version 1
Overview
Moulage was created as a proof of concept experiment. The intent was to show that a framework of 100% reusable components for scientific applications could be constructed using Java in spite of Java's relatively slow performance and newness.

Like all things that become popular early some applications were created using Moulage version 1.0. Although version 1.0 was only meant as a proof of concept these early adopting application proved our point better then we did since these programs continue to run as originally written even under the version 3 release of Moulage.
