DNA Extraction Protocol Outline


For this experiment, you need several thousand epithelial cells, which you will obtain from the inside of your mouth.

Materials
  1. Saline Solution
  2. Cell Sample
  3. Chelex

Steps
  1. Measure Saline Solution
  2. Swish in mouth
  3. Centrifuge sample and pour off supernatant
  4. Resuspend Chelex and add to sample
  5. mix
  6. Incubate at 100°C
  7. Cool on ice
  8. Centrifuge to Seperate
  9. pipette supernatant to new tube
  10. store on ice or freeze at -20°C
